core features withheld
yes — the OAuth brokering the product is sold on is hosted-only

Klavis publishes real software under Apache-2.0 - the MCP servers and the Strata aggregator - but withholds the part it is sold on: OAuth performed for the end user, with the resulting grant held by the hosted platform. Local Strata documents no authentication step at all, so that gap between what ships and what the product does makes this open core rather than open source.

Adoption

2 low confidence
2.0

GitHub stars are the least-bad adoption signal available, since neither PyPI package measures the product: `klavis` is the client SDK for the hosted platform, and `strata-mcp` is the self-hostable aggregator. The platform itself publishes no customer or request count, and a star is not a use, so the signal cannot place Klavis higher on its own.

Capability

5 medium confidence
5.0

Klavis performs OAuth for the end user and holds the resulting grant itself, with the create-server call returning authorization links for the user to complete, level with Composio, the other platform built the same way. Strata run locally has no OAuth step, so this reflects the hosted platform as sold rather than the self-hostable aggregator alone.

The README: "MCP Integrations - 100+ prebuilt integrations out-of-the-box, with OAuth support", with a cloud-hosted option at klavis.ai and self-hosting via `ghcr.io/klavis-ai/github-mcp-server` and `pipx install strata-mcp`.

The hosted quickstart: the create-server response carries "oauthUrls: Authorization links for services that require OAuth authentication" and "apiKeyUrls", and the worked code opens them - `webbrowser.open(oauth_url)` then "Press Enter after completing {server_name} OAuth authorization". It warns "DO NOT share your access token or direct URL publicly as they provide access to your connected accounts and data". The Open Source tab covers local Strata - `strata add`, stdio mode - with no OAuth step.
