  The Terms of Service describe Poe as a hosted service: "Poe is a platform that enables you to explore and interact with various bots powered by third-party Artificial Intelligence Models", and bar users from trying to "discover the source code or underlying components of models, algorithms, and systems of Poe". Searched the body for self-host, on-prem, open source and a software license: none; the only license mentioned is the one users grant Quora over their content.

The only sourceable active-user figure for Poe is an old company-reported count relayed by TechCrunch; a widely repeated higher number is actually a cumulative download total from the same report, not a user count. No newer first-party figure has surfaced, so this almost certainly understates the current product, and confidence stays low.
