Microsoft Foundry Models
Microsoft AzureThe model catalog in Microsoft Foundry, listing models from Microsoft, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Meta, Mistral, Cohere, NVIDIA and a Hugging Face collection. Entries are either sold and hosted by Azure or provided by partners and community publishers, and are deployed as serverless APIs or on managed compute. The catalog carries version and lifecycle information per model, and users can request additions.
This entry is the model catalog only; Foundry's observability surface is a separate entry. The older ai-foundry documentation path now redirects to a Foundry (classic) page.
Openness
1 high confidence- license
- proprietary(hosted service
- source
- closed(managed Azure service)
Foundry Models is part of Microsoft's managed Azure platform and cannot be run outside it. Many listed models are open, but the catalog and the deployment service are Microsoft's.

"Access models through a deployment that provisions an API. The API provides access to the model that Microsoft hosts and manages for inference." "Microsoft hosts and sells these models under Microsoft Product Terms."
Adoption
not assessedMicrosoft states how many models the catalog lists, not how many customers deploy them. A catalog count measures what is offered, so no reading was recorded.
- https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/foundry/concepts/foundry-models-overview recorded 2026-09-27
"The catalog includes over 10,000 models, with approximately 50 new models published each month." A catalog size; no usage figure on the page.
Capability
3 high confidenceThe catalog lists models from many providers, tracks their versions and lifecycle, and deploys any of them from the same page. Microsoft and its partners choose what appears, and a customer's own models are shared only inside that organization's registry, so it is a curated catalog rather than an open registry like Hugging Face Hub.
- https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/foundry/concepts/foundry-models-overview recorded 2026-09-27
"The model catalog is organized into two main categories: Foundry Models sold by Azure Foundry Models from partners and community"; "Request that Microsoft add a model to the model catalog"; "The model catalog offers two distinct options to deploy models".
- https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/foundry/foundry-models/concepts/models-sold-directly-by-azure recorded 2026-09-27
"Models sold by Azure are also hosted by Azure and operated by Azure as part of the Foundry Models service."
- https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/machine-learning/how-to-share-models-pipelines-across-workspaces-with-registries recorded 2026-09-27
"Using registries, you can share models, components, and environments" across workspaces "within your organization."
