Content Seal (Meta Seal)

Meta
source available / Overall score: 2.6

Content Seal is Meta's suite of invisible watermarking research code across audio, image, video and text. It collects AudioSeal, Video Seal and Pixel Seal, Watermark Anything, Stable Signature, TextSeal and related work on generation-time and in-model watermarking, each with released models and detectors. Meta states that the image version it deploys in production is a separate proprietary implementation.

Treated as one suite, so the most restrictive member license governs. Tagged self-attested: members ship open detectors, but a mark is a statistical signal, not a signed claim.

Openness

2 high confidence
2.0
license
MIT(OSI
source
public

Most of the suite is MIT or Apache-2.0, but Stable Signature, the radioactive watermark and one set of Watermark Anything weights are released for non-commercial use only. Taken as one product, the suite is only as open as its most restrictive member, so it reads as source-available. CC-BY-NC-4.0 covers a part the product requires and does not permit commercial use, so the license tier is noncommercial.

Adoption

2 low confidence
2.0

GitHub stars across the suite's repositories are the only signal for the suite as a whole. AudioSeal's own package downloads belong to one member, so they are not counted for the suite. A star is not a use.

Capability

3 low confidence
3.0

The suite releases its detectors with its embedders, so a third party can test content for a Meta Seal mark without Meta. A detection is a statistical signal rather than a signed claim, two steps below NVIDIA's hardware attestation.
