DROID

DROID Dataset Team
restricted / Overall score: 3.0

DROID (Distributed Robot Interaction Dataset) is a large in-the-wild robot manipulation dataset recorded by 50 collectors in North America, Asia and Europe on copies of one Franka-based robot platform: about 76k trajectories and 350 hours across 564 scenes and 86 tasks. It is distributed through TensorFlow Datasets and Cloud Storage, with a LeRobot-format copy on the Hugging Face Hub.

Neither the DROID repository nor its website states a license. The Hub copy declared here is LeRobot's conversion, which labels itself Apache-2.0 on its own authority.

The data downloads freely, but the team behind it has published no license, so there is no written permission to reuse it. LeRobot's copy on the Hub carries Apache-2.0, a label the converter chose rather than one the DROID authors granted.

Adoption

3 low confidence
3.0

Hugging Face downloads of LeRobot's conversion. Most use of DROID goes through TensorFlow Datasets and Cloud Storage, which publish no counts.

Capability

3 medium confidence
3.0

DROID's strength is variety of place: 564 real scenes recorded by collectors on three continents. Every trajectory comes from the same robot, though, and the collection is under a tenth the size of AgiBot World's.
