Dataset Search is a hosted Google service, and neither its crawler nor its index is published. Publishers take part through the open schema.org vocabulary, which describes their own pages and not the search engine.

"Dataset Search is a search engine for datasets. Using a simple keyword search, users can discover datasets hosted in thousands of repositories across the Web."; providers "Add markup to your dataset pages".

Google has published how many datasets the index covers but no count of searches or users. Index size describes what is listed rather than how much it is used, so no reading was recorded.

"Dataset Search has indexed almost 25 million of these datasets"; no count of searches or users.

Dataset Search finds datasets from the markup their publishers add to their own pages, and every result links back to where the data is kept. It holds and serves no data itself, like Masader.
