Inflection 3.0

Inflection AI

Inflection AI's foundation model, powering the Pi assistant and the company's enterprise tier. Inflection 3.0, released October 2024, pairs a Pi conversational model with a Productivity model and runs on Intel Gaudi 3 hardware with on-premises or cloud deployment. Most of the original research team moved to Microsoft in 2024, after which the company pivoted to enterprise work.

Over twelve months old and scored best-effort. Wikipedia confirms the acqui-hire but does not say Pi was sunset, so that claim was removed from the adoption reasoning. Verified 2026-08-13 via the Intel newsroom release and the Inflection AI Wikipedia entry.

After the Microsoft acqui-hire, Inflection pivoted to B2B. An enterprise API exists, but no usage of any kind has been disclosed and development is effectively stalled, so level 1 is a directional read. Wikipedia's article confirms the acqui-hire of nearly the whole 70-person workforce and the $650M technology license, and publishes no usage figure at all - that absence is what the level rests on. The enterprise pivot itself is established by the Intel release cited on the openness axis.

March 2024 - "Microsoft acqui-hiring nearly the entirety of its 70-person workforce"; "As part of the deal, Microsoft paid Inflection $650 million to license its technology". No user, customer or revenue figure published.

Capability

A 2024 model built for emotional intelligence and productivity rather than leaderboard performance, and never a frontier entry. Development effectively halted after Microsoft took the team, and there is no fresh independent benchmark, which leaves it low against the 2026 anchors.
