OpenManus

FoundationAgents

Open reimplementation of the Manus autonomous agent, built by members of the MetaGPT team as a general agent that needs no invite code. It plans and executes tasks through tools, browser automation and computer-use actions, and supports MCP. It is framed as a product run from a clone rather than a reusable library.

The PyPI package is vestigial; the distribution channel is a git clone. Verified 2026-08-13 via the FoundationAgents/OpenManus repository.

Adoption

57,954 stars across the one declared repo, which bands at >10K stars, level 3 on the stars scale, and a star-based reading is capped there. Package usage is negligible - the pypistats API returns 144 downloads in the trailing 30 days for openmanus - and that figure is deliberately not banded on: OpenManus is run from a clone and the PyPI package is vestigial, so banding on it would measure a channel the product barely ships through. Stars stay the instrument.

Capability

3.0

Capable demo agent but narrower and less battle-tested than the framework peers.
