CodeGemma

Google

Google's code-specialized Gemma family: a 2B pretrained model for fast code completion (fill-in-the-middle), a 7B pretrained model for infilling + natural language, and a 7B instruction-tuned variant for code chat. Further-trained on 500B-1T tokens of public code, math, and synthetic data.

Gemma Terms of Use (custom, use-restricted, NOT OSI). Training data and recipe not released. Largely superseded by Qwen2.5-Coder / Gemma 3 for coding.

Gemma-Terms-of-Use(custom,use-restricted,non-OSI)

Open weights under Google's custom Gemma terms, with no open training data or code. Was 3, corrected to 2 on 2026-07-29 on the rule that a use cap lands at 2 in every category, and returned to 3 on 2026-08-01 when the universal license scale replaced that rule: a bounded commercial license caps at 3, and a license forbidding commerce outright caps at 2. Gemma's terms are the former. The 2026-07-29 note cited gemma-2 and gemma-3 as siblings scoring 2/restricted on the same license. Neither slug exists after the slug migration, and the surviving `gemma` records an Apache-2.0 license rather than Gemma terms, so that comparison no longer holds - and whether `gemma`'s recorded license is right is a separate question worth a look.
