The service is closed; `linkup-sdk` and the MCP servers are MIT, but none of that is the index. The one repository that would be it, `ranking`, declares no licence at all.

Linkup's adoption is measured through PyPI downloads of `linkup-sdk`, the same reasoning used for SerpApi's client package: the SDK exists only to call this API, so its users and the API's users are the same population. npm distributes the same package with additional downloads that this count leaves out, which is why confidence is medium rather than high.

Linkup's `/search` endpoint returns a cited natural-language answer when the caller sets `outputType` to `sourcedAnswer`, at $0.006 against $0.005 for raw results, rather than through a separate product. Brave, Parallel Search API and Kagi offer the same answer capability only through a separate, pricier plan, leaving Linkup and Perplexity as the only two that sell it as a parameter of one endpoint.
