Linkup
LinkupWeb search API for agents. One `/search` route takes a natural-language query and returns, at the caller's election, ranked sources with content snippets, a cited natural-language answer, or JSON matching a supplied schema; `/fetch` renders a named URL to markdown and `/research` runs the same pipeline asynchronously for long-form questions.
The registry flagged this as an MIT SDK in front of a closed index and that is exactly right: the LinkupPlatform organization publishes thirty repositories, all of them SDKs, MCP servers, plugins or benchmark harnesses, and the one repository that sounds like the core - `ranking` - carries no licence and describes itself as "probably temporary".
Openness
1 high confidence- license
- Proprietary(API-only)
- source
- closed(no index or ranking code published
- managed
- cloud SaaS with API keys, per-request, $0.005-$0.055 for search depending on depth and output type
The service is closed; `linkup-sdk` and the MCP servers are MIT, but none of that is the index. The one repository that would be it, `ranking`, declares no licence at all.

Per-request pricing for three routes on one account - Fetch $0.001-$0.006, Search $0.005-$0.006, Research $0.25-$2.50 - with SOC 2 Type II and enterprise ZDR. A hosted metered service; no self-hosting or source-available option.
Adoption
3 medium confidenceLinkup's adoption is measured through PyPI downloads of `linkup-sdk`, the same reasoning used for SerpApi's client package: the SDK exists only to call this API, so its users and the API's users are the same population. npm distributes the same package with additional downloads that this count leaves out, which is why confidence is medium rather than high.

last_month = 236,301 downloads for `linkup-sdk` (last_week 54,861, last_day 9,836).
Capability
5 high confidenceLinkup's `/search` endpoint returns a cited natural-language answer when the caller sets `outputType` to `sourcedAnswer`, at $0.006 against $0.005 for raw results, rather than through a separate product. Brave, Parallel Search API and Kagi offer the same answer capability only through a separate, pricier plan, leaving Linkup and Perplexity as the only two that sell it as a parameter of one endpoint.

"Given a natural-language query, the /search route returns ranked sources, optionally bundled with a cited natural-language answer or with structured output matching a JSON schema." The outputType table: searchResults "Array of {name, url, content}"; sourcedAnswer "Search results plus a natural-language answer with inline citations"; structured. Pricing on the same page: $0.005 for searchResults against $0.006 for sourcedAnswer.
