Khadas Edge2
Khadas (Shenzhen Wesion)Credit-card-sized single-board computer built around the Rockchip RK3588S2, an 8nm eight-core 64-bit Arm SoC with a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU and a built-in NPU rated at 6 TOPS. It ships in Basic and Pro configurations with 8GB or 16GB of memory and 32GB or 64GB of eMMC in a compact fanless design, running Ubuntu and Android with mainline Armbian support.
Made by Khadas, trading as Shenzhen Wesion. The openness axis weighs versioned board schematics and a published toolchain against Rockchip silicon that requires binary blobs. Verified 2026-08-13 via the Khadas schematics archive, the fenix toolchain repository, the Edge2 product page and the rkbin repository.
Openness
4 high confidence- schematics
- published (versioned PDFs published)
- toolchain
- open (open GPL-2.0 Fenix + mainline Armbian)
- datasheets
- public (public SoC TRM)
- blobs
- required (Rockchip NPU/boot blobs required)
- retail
- open_market (global)
Khadas publishes versioned board schematics and an open toolchain with mainline Armbian support, but proprietary Rockchip silicon and required firmware blobs keep it at the open-toolchain tier rather than fully open hardware. One caveat on the documentation: this record describes the public datasheet as an RK3588S2 technical reference manual, where what is actually readable is Rockchip's brief RK3588 datasheet plus Khadas's own published specification.

Adoption
4 high confidenceSold on Amazon US and Newegg (Basic and Pro), with an active community forum and mainline Armbian support, but smaller than Raspberry Pi-class platforms. The Amazon listing is not machine-readable (the host returns a "Click the button below to continue shopping" interstitial to an automated fetch), so availability rests on Khadas's own store, which sells both the Basic 8GB and Pro 16GB SKUs and runs a distributor programme, plus an independent Armbian community comparison that ranks the Edge 2 Pro alongside the other RK3588 boards.

Capability
3 high confidenceThe RK3588S2 NPU delivers 6 TOPS, handling real-time CV and small quantized LLMs, mid-tier versus Jetson Orin. The product page reads "up to 6 TOPS" on the RK3588S2 NPU with 8GB or 16GB LPDDR4X, which is level with orange-pi-5 (also 6 TOPS, also 3) and below radxa-rock-5b, whose 32GB LPDDR5 option carries it to 4.
